Have you ever had an experience that is so improbable you stop and wonder why it happened? The chance of these series of events being so small that it could not simply be a coincidence. A feeling the universe is moving in such a way as to show you something, that the unlikely coincidence has some form of meaning behind it. Many readers will be familiar with the term synchronicity, for those that are not, it was first introduced by the famous psychologist Carl Jung who, unlike many of his peers at the time, held true to his spiritual roots. He described synchronicity as a ‘meaningful coincidence’.
Synchronicity is a beautiful rabbit hole that can be explored on many levels, anything from seeing a simple coincidence, a feeling of being on the right path or following the signs to find life-changing patterns. The further you explore and the deeper you go the more you can gain from the wisdom of the universe. My life has changed many times over the years, each time synchronicity has whispered words of wisdom to me, guiding me and showing me a path towards the next chapter of my journey.
A Story of Synchronicity
In 1995, going through a divorce, Kate had been exploring the signs of synchronicity looking for a new chapter to her life. Many books were bought and read for guidance, one of which was the Celestine Prophecy, a fictional account of a character’s spiritual awakening as he goes through a transitional period of his life. The mirroring of the story and her life was just the first of many coincidences that were about to happen. Kate never read the book but instead lent it to her sister’s friend. Months later, a series of chance events allowed Kate to explore the country of Ireland. Travelling with a rucksack and a group of lesser-known acquaintances, she looked for a place she could call her new home, feeling and seeing the signs that Ireland would be the right country.
While in West Cork she was asked to help walk a child home from school, where she met a lady called Kathy. They got talking about the reasons for being in Ireland and Kate explained how she was following the signs of synchronicity. At which point Kathy produced a book from her bookshelf and recommended she read it. As Kate opened the front page of the Celestine Prophecy, she was amazed to see her own name in her own handwriting. Later that day she was offered a cabin to live in. Twenty-Five years later, she still lives in the wilderness of Ireland tending her garden and fulfilling her dream of being an Astrologer. Synchronicity for her has become the norm of everyday life.

Although synchronicity does not necessarily need to change your life dramatically, it can be active in much simpler ways. Giving you the feeling you are on the right path or a message from a loved one, it could even be just a little help at the right time while you are trying to solve a problem.
Synchronicities are another way the Universe gives us guidance. You might be in a bookstore when a book falls off the shelf in front of you. The Science behind the Synchronistic
Synchronicities are observed through the eye of the beholder, it is us that give them meaning, changing what could be seen as a mere coincidence into a meaningful coincidence. It is difficult to quantify a synchronicity through any normal means of science, each experience is personal and shaped by our own observations. To factualise synchronicities would be like asking someone to prove that their dreams exist. Although as science delves more into the world of quantum physics, neurology and psychology it starts to reveal a possible comparison between the spiritual and the physical. A recent study found that out of two hundred and twenty-six psychotherapists, councillors and psychologists, 44% reported synchronistic experiences in a therapeutic setting and that 67% felt that these experiences could be useful for therapy.
Neuro-psychology has shown that experiences associated with a sense of wonder, fascination and awe, lead to the development of new brain cells and a better connection between them. Synchronicities hold true to these feelings, helping to form and reorganise brain-cell connections. Synchronistic experiences release dopamine which helps motivation and goal-directed behaviour, this enhances mental well-being. It is said that within synchronicities are tiny bits of satori or enlightenment, giving the sense of an underlying universal connection.
Einstein’s spooky action at a distance or new age physics “quantum entanglement” almost sheds light on the possibility of effecting the universe with our consciousness. If two particles can interact with each other from a distance with no obvious connections, then why can’t our particles within our mind interact with the universe around us or even connect with other people’s consciousness?
Pauline Phillips, the founder of the Dear Abby column, described a synchronistic phenomenon called “pennies from heaven”. Thousands of readers have written in over the years, telling stories of thinking about loved ones that have passed away while coming across a coin that has their loved one’s birth, marriage or death year on it. Many readers have taken this as a sign, finding comfort in the connecting coincidence, feeling as if their dearly departed is sending them a message.

Delving, tarot cards and oracle readings have always been a great way to better understand synchronicities. Although it is not the synchronicities that we are shining a light on, these are just tools to tap into our intuition, allowing us to have a clearer picture of the connection between our intuitive mind and the universe. The same goes for meditation and reading dreams. What you begin to understand is that to access the synchronicities you have to tap into yourself, the deeper parts of you that are always naturally connected to the universe.

Saying Yes to the Universe
The atoms within us and the universe around us are all fundamentally made up of energy. Our intuitive mind harmonises with these energies of the universe sending complex patterns out in front of us, these patterns come back into our lives in the form of synchronicities. Our inner monologue impresses itself upon the universe, our worries, our hopes, our dreams, the universe listens and reacts. Giving paths to be taken and doors to be opened.
The first step is seeing the signs, seeing the meaningful coincidences within our lives. The next step is giving them meaning, finding what they mean to you and then taking action based on what you believe to be true. Saying yes to the universe, using your gut feelings, your instincts, following a path unwinding in front of you bring tremendous rewards and clarity. Through both the hard times and the good times. Synchronicities can come when you most need them or when you least expect them.
Exploring these leads to a deeper connection to the universe. It can be an adventure, new experiences or profound insights. They can happen at any time anywhere, if you want to see them all you have to do is open your heart, trust in your mind and look with open eyes — inside and out. They are all around you just waiting to give guidance and purpose.

My life is built on synchronicities. Many of which are well documented case studies, like the following story – I was walking down Bondi Beach minding my own business when a young man jumps out of nowhere and starts blocking my path saying “Lost Paradise”.
Rewind December 2018 – He happened to be at a talk I gave at Lost Paradise music festival 2 years ago. He was 21 back then, moved by my talk he came up to speak with me afterwards. The strange thing was that this was a music festival and I have a short attention span for small talk so I was committed to having conversations with only two people a day – this was one of them.
December 3rd 2020 – I was casually walking down Bondi Beach and this young man jumps out of nowhere. We start talking and this time exchange contact details. I later find out that he is a Hip-Hop artist. That week, I was playing with an idea – Equation of Love. Was this a poem? A book? A dance party? I wasn’t quite sure yet but the ideas were looming. I knew one thing though – it had to involve this young man named Cocoa.
December 5th 2020 – I did not hesitate to call him the next day. We met up later that week to explore this idea – Equation of Love, until it dawned upon us that this could be a song. I described how I wanted the song – I had a construct, I did not have the words. A few weeks later the beat dropped and a song was born. A moment sooner – the Equation of Love would not have been born. A moment later and the idea would simply have been a passing thought.
January 2nd 2021 – I was so blown away to hear my life’s work in a hip-hop song. This was big! I could already see it as a music video.
January 25th 2021 – Filming begins. How I got filming and the cast together comes down to the Precognition Method – a technique of foresight of my own making. The whole production process was seamless and I cannot be thankful enough for the cast and the crew for taking the music video to beyond my wildest imagination.

Years ago, stayed up all night talking with someone I had just met about “The Course in Miracles. I had never heard of it but was fascinated by the story & excerpts read to me that night. Next day exploring N. California coast with another friend when I spied a bookstore/cafe. I pulled into the parking lot with the intention of finding my own copy of the book. My friend laughed, seeing a bunch of motorcycles in the parking lot & said she doubted they would have it. I walked in & was magnetically pulled to the back of the store where I immediately spotted one copy of the Course. Magical!
Synchronicity has had a wonderful effect on my life, to saving it, to being in the right place at the right time for the right person (sometimes me). I believe that God brings it and the biblical verse that i rely on is Never turn a stranger from the door as they may be an angel in disguise. Many angels.

I read the Celestial Phrophies many years ago after my sister introduced me to the book. After reading it I realised that all my life, I’ve always felt connected and led by a greater sense of just me deciding on something. I’ve always had ‘vibes’ about things. I also have vivid dreams, and feelings – like when my father died, I dreamt that I was talking to him about his funeral, and driving along the same road I travelled with him many times. Whist dreaming, I felt the time I was with my father was real and his death and funeral was the dream. I awoke to my alarm, feeling like I dropped from the ceiling, realised my reality that he was dead. I have so many experiences of this connection that I could go on. Maria
Since August 2019, here in New Zealand, i had been readying my self for my twin brother’s wedding taking place in the U.K during January 2020.
My inner voice struggled with January’s freezing winter…..why not the pleasing heat of May or June ? Doubts plagued my unwilling heart….finances../ impossible….health/ impossible/ and so i found every excuse that convinced me not to go. I bravely stepped forward,against all odds and went. I sit here, now back in my home in New Zealand and just MARVEL at the wonder of it all! If i had not gone as directed i would have missed out on the chance of a Life time to reconnect with my cousins, family and friends which I left behind in 1978 to travel to New Zealand.Each step was edged in Gold. I could have dropped to my knees in gratefulness at the immensity God’s wonderful provision was released .Food so lovely, earm and comfortable accommodation, free transport, guides in the City,visiting familiar places…London, Surrey, Dublin, Dorset, Wales, precious time with my twin, all wrapped in the warmth, care and love of my family. All that I had longed, and dreamed for through these years away from home. Now that Covid-19 has spread world wide, i may never get to see my family in the UK again during my lifetime. I hold the 1000 photos I took and my daily journal as one of the greatest blessings of my life with that of my two children.
Today I allow myself to be friend to a gold back fly as we were inches away, eye to eye and it danced on the rail. We had been interacting for days in my apt so I let it in for visits then open my screen door for it return outside. Such peace as one.
Well I will say that connections are made in Heaven. We all are the after effects of our KARMIC cycle doings. That’s what hypnotherapist believe in, so does the Hindu Mythology. Psychotherapist have their own story. We all are here for a purpose, a set of people to connect with and settle our scores of past life activity. during this process we also create new Karmas for the next life. The cycle will go and we continue meeting new set of people life after life.
Synchronicity has always been in my life. I remember in the early 1990’s going into our local 2nd hand bookshop and literally being led towards a shelf of Spiritual development books. One title stood out. I took it, paid for it and once I started reading, couldn’t put it down. A few months later, I joined a spiritual group in the UK and the rest, as they say, is history. I have been studying Spirituality now for just under 30 years.
Now, I always ask for guidance before making any important decision. If the guidance doesn’t come through, then I try to delay making that decision if I can. If not, I just go with my gut.
Sometimes it’s too soon or else it’s not right for me. I never force my will on the Universe. Spirit knows so much better than myself what is good for me!
I have had too many to mention over the past 8 years. A time I went to harbour at dawn in a state of distress. A fish appeared flailing on a small area of sand. Just as I thought it would die or be eaten by a full it managed to get back in the water. I took this as a sign to hang on. Another time I was on a lady ward softly after my mother passed. Was only allowed in courtyard. Wasn’t in the best place when 4 small birds appeared which made me think of my 4 daughters, a reason to fight
I call them miracles in the every day a butterfly or bird, a rainbow, word from a stranger, a song played, word in a book They have honestly raised my spirits and saved me from potential harm or death
I was walking my dog in a park when a woman came up to me remarking how beautiful my dog was. We talked for a while and had so much in common, on a spiritual level. She was a high school teacher from Colorado in New York to see her son’s animation project from the school of visual arts. When we parted, I called out her name and said, “did you read the Celestine Prophecy?” She said yes and I said, “Then you know there are no coincidences. Come back and let’s talk about that.” It was like each who cross our paths, do so for a reason. For me, I had written a story that I wanted to see if it would translate well into animation. She said her son had to do a project for the school of visual arts and he agreed to and I made a portion of the story. But we could not figure out what I could give to her. She went back to Colorado and the following week the massacre happened at Columbine high school. I called to see if she was OK and she went into a private room and broke down. She said that she knew the killers and that her next-door neighbor son had been killed. Her house was the house that everyone gathered at to mourn and she was remain strong for everyone. She said she did not know people outside of Littleton that she could talk to about this and that talking to me, in such grief, was a gift from the universe. So you see, there are no coincidences.
My friend and I were walking through New York City streets talking about what we wanted to do with our lives. He was struggling about whether to become a rabbi or not. He knew if he did, his life would change dramatically and he wasn’t sure he was ready for that. We contemplated whether he should do it or not. As we turned on to 8th Street, there was a movie marquee above an abandoned movie theater. The marquee said: God has other plans for you!
I was in group therapy because I wanted to work out some issues, but wasn’t getting the help I needed. One of the women in the group gave me a flyer and said she thought I would be interested in it. It was a flyer entitled something like “Exorcise Old Ancestors and Ghosts.” I couldn’t understand why she gave that to me and so I crumpled it up and threw in the wastebasket. Traveling down 23 floors in an elevator, I was baffled by why she gave me that. When I got to the lobby, I remembered the book the Celestine Prophecy and its Philosophy that there are no coincidences. I got back in the elevator, went into the office and took out the paper I had thrown in the wastebasket. I read the entire flyer and still could not understand why she gave it to me. But then, I noticed something on the back. It said, “Free Workshop: Enter the Witness State. Hakomi Therapy.” This was something I had wanted to know more about and was ecstatic that I could go to this workshop. It truly was one of the most powerful workshops I’ve ever attended. I switched over my therapies to this spiritual therapy and it is the best thing I’ve ever done.
This happened in 2007 if I m right. I have this dear friend of mine from school. I m forty now. We have been in touch since 1996, known even before that. We took personal interest of each other since 1996. After we left boarding school we also lived far from each other , which meant we didn’t see each other at all.We remained in touch though not often. When we talked over the phone it was a great time always , maybe just twice a year, but still we felt very connected. It was mostly (only) me who called him. Whenever I called him we both felt ourselves and had a nice long chat.
This time I was travelling from a town to his city. I was going to reach that city in the early morning,while still dark. It was quite unsafe for girls to be on their own.I was very unfamiliar with the city and wanted someone’s help. I was travelling by train and from the moment I got into the train I had this compelling feeling to call my friend. But I was fighting against that thought. I told myself I will not call him at any cost , though I really wanted him to him. I didn’t want to call him , because the last time I spoke to him I told him I wouldn’t talk to him hereafter unless he called me , because I felt that it was always only me checking on him. That’s the reason I was resisting to call. Though I was very anxious about what I would do after reaching the city , I lay to take a snooze. Still I was getting the thought to call him , and to my shock , on my mobile he was calling me . I couldn’t believe my eyes and ears , and my face lit up so bright. I told him how I was thinking of calling him because I needed his help. He was so ready to come and pick me up from the railway station. When I got down there I saw him waiting to pick me up with all smiles.
This is a very unforgettable experience in my life , which still fills me with awe . ( Note: He didn’t know any of my travel plans, no Facebook those days)
Synchronicity has been in my life at least since the early 1990’s of last century.
I used to enjoy reading detective novels and one day, I went into our local 2nd hand bookstore but for some strange reason, instead of going left to the detective book section, I was literally led straight ahead to the Spiritual book section. There a title jumped out at me: I removed the book, paid for it and took it home. The rest as they say, is history. I later joined a Spiritual group in the UK and have been studying Spirituality ever since then.
Now, if I need to make a decision, I wait for a sign. If no sign appears, then I delay the decision if that is possible. If not, I always go with my gut, whether it is a decision about a person, business or an important purchase. The Universe is wise and knows what is best for me.
