The Messages From Wild Soundscapes

Bernie Krause has been recording the sounds of wildlife for 45 years. His wild soundscapes, recordings of the wind in the trees, the songs of birds, and more subtle sounds, have fascinated him with their wonder.

A musician and ecologist, he has seen many environments radically altered by humans, sometimes even by practices thought to be environmentally safe.

Ants, insect larvae, viruses, or sea anemones, all produce a vibrant soundscape. Every wild soundscape contains an enormous amount of information that can help us evaluate the health of a habitat.

Over time, he’s noticed just how much you can hear the effects of global warming on our planet. We really don’t know what this means in the long run. In the short run, we are losing these soundscapes.

Take a surprising journey at what we can learn through nature’s symphonies.
