The Common Thread is a documentary web-series presented by acclaimed short-form filmmaker Darius Devas. It examines the lives of young Australians experiencing mental illness through powerful personal stories. The series is driven by Darius’ desire to understand the loss of his friend to suicide and his own lived experience of anxiety.
In episode 6: Top End, Darius honours his friend and Indigenous poet Alice, whose loss to suicide is felt by many, taking us on a journey through grief at a funeral ceremony, and exploring the power of emotional expression in community.
