Seven Signs You Are Truly Awake

Seven Signs You Are Truly Awake
How to Open Your Eyes to the World You Don't See

Allow me to draw your attention to an apparently surprising thing. If I told you that now, when you are reading these lines, you are in fact asleep, you would certainly believe that I have gone mad.

You are awake, you are concentrating your attention to reading, and you are aware of your environment as well. You can see the furniture of your room, you can hear the call of the birds from the nearby forest. You are also aware of your thoughts and emotions. How can anyone claim that you are asleep at this very moment?

Naturally, you – just like everyone else – sleeps at night. Yes, sometimes you see dreams while you sleep, but right now it is daytime, you are awake. So how could you see dreams?

How can anyone claim that you are asleep at this very moment? How can anyone claim that you are asleep at this very moment?

You Imagine a Whole World Around Yourself

I believe that you do not only sleep at night, but also during the daytime. I believe that in your present state of consciousness, your greatest illusion is that you think you are awake. I believe that in your present existence, your greatest illusion is when you think that you are alert. What I see is that in your present state of consciousness you are asleep, and at present you are dreaming, and what you see and hear are all parts of your dream.

Your nighttime sleep is only different from your daytime sleep in that in the night your dreams are less active. During the day, you imagine a whole world around you, and you play an active role in that dream. Your personal history takes place in that world, and identifying with that world shapes your personal identity.

At present, you are dreaming that as a part of your personal history you are reading these lines while identifying with the role of the spiritual seeker, and you are outraged by what you are actually reading.

The question may arise, ‘why do I claim that you are asleep and dreaming now?’. Well, from the state of consciousness I call Alertness, I can see that you are asleep, you believe yourself to be a separate self, you are a captive of the works of your mind.

Your greatest illusion is that you think you are awake.Your greatest illusion is that you think you are awake.

You are not Present

What is the evidence for me to say that you are now asleep and, as a citizen of a dreamland, you are dreaming that you are awake?

It is because you are not present. To be present means that you are fully alert, attentive, and conscious in the present moment. Whatever you do, you do that fully consciously, you focus your entire attention on that particular activity.

Do you feel free to declare that you are present in every moment of your life?

What does it mean to be awake? It has happened to all of us that we have come under the spell of a moment, at some time during our life. A beautiful landscape, a sunset, a beautiful piece of art, the rhythm of music enchanted us. It may even happen that we are just lost in the silence of a peaceful moment. The identification with the forms and shapes loosens a little bit for a short while, and in that instant, we may experience an entirely different state of consciousness.

Do you feel free to declare that you are present in every moment of your life?Do you feel free to declare that you are present in every moment of your life?

How to tell when you are Awake

Here are 7 qualities of awakened people:

1. When our identification with a form ceases, a new space is generated between us and the form, and we are able to recognise that we are not identical to that form.

2. We virtually step out of the psychological time frame, we stop mulling over injuries of the past, and do not build our identity for the future.

3. Ego disappears, telling personal history stops, and the line of our accustomed identity is broken.

4. We are awake, only the present moment exists for us. Our soul is permeated by the quiet of the Miracle that is the consciousness and the joy of the existence.

5. We are free and independent of the forms and shapes, and of the necessity of choosing from them. All our suffering and problems have vanished, we are surrounded by peace and tranquility.

6. There is only the pure existence, we are eyewitnesses, contemplating the dance of forms and shapes around us. We do not identify with anything, we are a consciousness free of the obligation to make choices.

7. We accept life as it is, and it is not done under pressure, since that acceptance is the result of our complete freedom.

We are eyewitnesses, contemplating the dance of forms and shapes around us.We are eyewitnesses, contemplating the dance of forms and shapes around us.

In that state of consciousness, an entirely new dimension of existence opens up for us, showing us existence from a completely new perspective. The unity behind the controversies is revealed in front of our eyes, and we no longer insist on looking on the sunny side of life, as we are able to discover beauty on the dark side too.

Everything will be quiet and peaceful in us. We are beyond all good and evil, we are a mere consciousness that does not analyze or judge, only contemplate. We realize that the same contemplating soul lives in everybody, so the differences between human beings are only superficial, and deep inside we are all the same. Experiencing that unity will bring us the ecstasy of life, the perfect joy of existence.

Beyond good and evil is still duality . good and evil is there and I am here .We will eventually realize that we are all of our emotions.

Being naturally born awake is different. I didn’t seek anything but always knew I could see what others couldn’t. It’s not a burden unless you chose it to be. It’s only confusing if you don’t allow yourself to just relax and let it in. It’s not a choice. Breath deep and know you have a bigger purpose.

I don’t find the person who wrote this article to be awake. This description is typical of what people believe is awakening. Something I looked to find and failed at 40 years ago. I would have had to follow people who clearly were lost and wanting to believe something. Real awakening has been much different, for me, and entails understanding the nature of this world. It’s not pretty, nor is it joyful. For me, it has been and continues to be frustrating, isolating, and depressing. This world is grown from the pathology of domination and as such is its expression. We are what we eat and we are raised on (fed) our culture. Our culture is pathological. There is a lot of effort to make you believe that our social”reality” IS reality. But we create and reproduce social reality. Schools are indoctrinating facilities. Produced knowledge serves to keep us not comprehending. You plant corn, you get corn. Good luck.

what everyone needs to understand is that there’s hierarchy in spiritual awakening . even though most of us experience the same protocol in most cases just like a woman giving birth to a child ..a newborn baby is generally known to give birth through her private and reproductive organ but not all gives birth to the same kind of baby..that’s one thing about spiritual awakening..it is so because each and every creation that has life has its own uniquely designed purpose. it’s so simple ..the sun was made for day, the moon for night..but from the same creator..most people are conformed in doing what the society is doing and entangled in the shackles of retaining old cultures and traditions..on this pretext.
I am able to understand the fact that RELIGION in itself is man-made. no matter the kind or how pure it is because it involves the use of another human to connect with God.. Spirituality on the other hand is Ordained by God himself… everyone has the ability to connect with the Almighty..All scriptures were manmade ..The Almighty is implanted in every living creation .. just that the truth is hidden to the masses who ain’t inquisitive. be on the look out for my book.. everything is detailed in there ..gonna be out soon. *SPIRITUALITY IN THE SHACKLES OF RELIGION*

Let’s be honest. An awakening, or as some call it opening your 3rd eye is not just meant to be one particular way. The awakening is the true testament of life and blood itself, joining together no matter race, ethnicity, or religion. We are one, we are the same, but we are not unified. We will never know a true awakening until we have become unified through darkness and light, but we do see through our three eyes, and we understand and utilize our intuition and 6th sense. Some even gave up to 8 senses, but no more. We are not superhuman, yet we are a controlling force within ourselves. Meant to spread, collaborate, unify, and withhold the darkest hours hand in hand. One is only understanding of their own core, but all hold true consciousness within the same shared core, being the awakened. For every mountain you climb, there will always be a higher mountain. For every hand you hold closed, one will always be open. Until we have converted our inner light into recreational activity for all souls, we will shine amongst ourselves, as our own God of creatures, with a dropper understand, passion, and shared core belief. Do not hold back on self realization, for until you have unlocked yourself, the key to your illusions will not become truth. Feel the vibrations, for while you cannot follow them, you can tread them into a new density, a higher velocity for which will only then, become true self realization, and release your soul into the abyss of others awakened. We may never come together, but we will always be able to look eye to eye and know, we are unified. We don’t wait for the world, the world is waiting for us.

Being truly awake is difficult if you mainly socialise with people asleep. You think you know many secrets yet nobody is interested or cares.
You want to tell the world but nobody listens. Sometimes I kid myself that I wish I was still asleep but I know it is just a lie.

I think the article sums things up fairly well and the more I learn the more I don’t want to commit to any belief. Belief is an indication you might still be asleep and one tends to feel less polarised on anything because what is to gain and learn from that?

The rabbit hole is deep and full of enlightenment but careful you don’t bang your head on the way out.

All our suffering and problems vanish? And you know that? How?

I’d say this is a misunderstanding. Being awake does not mean you dissociate from human emotion. If suffering is there, that’s what’s appearing. Pretending you’re above it, or whatever is imagined to happen with awakening, is not being present with what is. Awakeness does not bring immunity to illness or loss. Human emotion is part of the human experience.

In India, it is unlawful to wake up a sleeping person. Non-the-less, we seem compelled to speak. In time, the Source will awaken in each and their eyes Will be open. It takes many life cycles for one to awaken and our path is long and arduous. Only few are chosen although many are called. Still, I salute you for speaking of such an obscured revelation. It will still ring true to the masses, that the Source of our being; of life is still contained between our hat and shoes. Know thyself is the meaning behind all relgion and scriptures; so one is without excuse.

It was really thought provoking, thanks. I do realize that our everyday lives just pass by us sometimes and we don’t appreciate the very moments that like sand just leave to never return. I resonate with what you wrote here and I would like to know more about the ways one can employ in order to be truly “awake”.

What an fascinating conundrum we are. Tethered to a physical body with incredible demands put on it just to survive. Then we are pitched onto a big ball of dirt, amazingly beautiful and as even more complex than we are, where we settle for a short term. We are reared in the other complex and demanding culture where we are moulded to fit a scheme we have no real understanding of.

The conundrum really begins to flame out when we realize how spiritual we really are. It begins to be very frustrating when, as young people, we begin to question as in “why do we not connect as well as we should?” Our inner selves screaming for freedom from the physical demands and to be let loose to just be. Screaming to be heard, understood and appreciated. We walk through a carnival of testing characters and options where we must choose what is real and what is not. What can we reveal and what we can not. What we can share and what if forbidden. Somehow we come to an end of the testing grounds to find we are not ourselves but something guarded and fearful of the coming night.

All around us we hear whispers of judgement yet are told not to judge. We are inundated with examples of horrific harm being done but are told not to harm. We come to realize perfection exist only in an insane asylum yet so often in some abstract way it is demanded of us. Every once in awhile we look up at the crows overhead and know our destiny over which we have no control, awaits. Still after the long run we are no better qualified to judge the carrion or the crow. That alone may set us free in the end.
Being a kind of awake is not chosen by us but for us lest we become carrion too soon. It is nice to dream until hunger awakes us to the shapes of what must be done.

This article is just a rehash, almost verbatim, taken straight out of Eckhart Tolle’s The Power of Now. It is also extremely presumptuous to tell the reader they are not awake. Does the author assume they are the only awake one on the planet? A disappointing article.
