Painting a Town Peaceful
The Healing Power of Art and Community

Las Palmitas, Pachuca, was once a dangerous town that endured regular clashes between rival gangs. A painting project has turned the Mexican town and community around, with crime and violence dropping dramatically since the mural was completed. The project, “Pachuca Paints Itself,” brought residents together, including gang members, who painted more than 200 homes.

The individual paintings combine to create a beautiful rainbow design inspired by Pachuca’s nicknmame “La Bella Airosa,” or the beautiful, breezy city.

Watch this uplifting and colourful story of hope.
