Courage

Self-Discovery Guidelines to Access and Activate:
Courage

Writing down your insights is very helpful.

Before you start, we encourage you to keep a journal of your explorations, so grab a journal, pad of paper or print the worksheet below.

1. Feel your body, take a few moments to settle in. Your body holds deep wisdom. Trust in it. Learn from it. Connect with it.

2. Bring your awareness to the specific Inner Resource of Courage, as you slow down, and take a few deep breaths.

3. Allow the word Courage to just drop into your field of being and notice what you experience with curiosity and kindness to yourself.

Take your time, go slowly, and be patient with yourself to get the best results.

Explore the following questions with curiosity and kindness to yourself:

As I feel into my ability to face adversity and things that frighten me, I become aware that I have a great deal of courage inside me.

When have I experienced courage?

Pause for a moment to remember a time when you felt courage within you. As one comes to mind, feel into the feeling of courage that welled up in you at that time. Feel into it now. Notice the strength it offered you even though you were afraid.

Think of a few more times you accessed courage.

Notice that you can feel courage arising within you as you look for it!

It is natural for us to have courage. It’s a super-power!

In the face of fear, we always have the opportunity to experience more courage within ourselves. Courage is our natural response to fear.

We access courage just by feeling it. And the more we access it, the more we activate it. And the more we activate it, the more present and available it is to support, strengthen, and hold us in all kinds of situations.

Courage is our ally. Although facing challenges in life requires courage, it also strengthens us.

It takes courage to change a negative mindset to a positive one. It takes courage to stand up for ourselves. It takes courage to say no. And sometimes, it takes courage to say yes!

What do you feel as you read those statements? Notice what resonates with you and what doesn’t.

In what ways could you see how accessing more courage would support you in your daily life?

Would courage help you to be more truthful and open to yourself? Would courage help you to more easily feel the vast array of feelings/emotions within you? Most of us have tried hard not to feel our feelings/emotions, so this is a big challenge.

Take a few deep breaths and notice how courage helps you explore your feelings/emotions.

It’s natural for courage to come to our assistance in times of crisis or need. However, courage is always available within us to support us and give us strength even for seemingly little things.

See what happens in your life today, as you meet the various circumstances and challenges in your daily life, while keeping your awareness on courage.

You are already a courageous being.

We invite you to continue this journey of self-discovery. It is not a once-and-done experience. Please revisit this exploration into Courage and discover how it continues to deepen and enhance the quality of your life.

Take 5 Deep Breaths

1. Feel your body.

2. Relax your shoulders.

3. Choose a word that makes you feel peaceful, such as om, peace, or love.

4. Inhale slowly while mentally saying the word you chose. Pause before starting the exhalation.

5. Exhale slowly while mentally saying 1 with the first breath. Exhale saying 2 with the second breath, up to 5 or more.

Feel Your Body

Relax your body, and just be aware of how your body feels. Without changing anything, notice what you are feeling, and where you are feeling things in your body.  If your body wants to adjust a little, let it. Be curious how it feels as your body relaxes. (Resist any temptation to analyze or think.)
