I was completely fascinated by the technology and the recording science that captures this sound in a vacuum. This eerie soundscape was captivating. My mind seeking poetic comparisons: a storm brewing out at sea or a windy night just before the snowfall. Then, under the shifting vibration, I could hear a constant drone, a humming that was somehow familiar to me. A recognition of something ancient and familiar, as if part of me. I closed my eyes and meditated on the experience. Like a soothing balm, it expanded into my awareness–was this undertone the sweet resonating OM?
OM, sometimes written AUM, and more often than not is expressed by the symbol above is the most sacred syllable and mantra of Brahma, the Almighty God in Hinduism. Brahman is Supreme Self, Ultimate Reality, Creator of all Existence. The syllable is often chanted either independently or before other mantras and prayers. It denotes the essence of primordial sound. The first and eternal vibration that manifests everything into existence.
The symbol is part of the historic iconography found throughout ancient manuscripts, temples, and ashrams belonging to Hinduism, Buddhism, and Jainism. The depth and complexity of meaning or incantation changes marginally as it is woven in time and through varying religious scriptures and traditions.
It made perfect sense to me that this would be the sound a planet makes as it rotates on its axis. The only sound a planet could make as a resonating prayer back to Existence. An eternal Earth mantra echoing billions of years with no interest or awareness of Time. I could feel my being both shrink into sublime insignificance and also expand into gratitude for my place on this Earth. I imagined just how important every animate and inanimate object is on this precious Earth. And how everything has its place of belonging. I wrote the following short poem to try and capture the awe and mystery that was swooning inside of me. The poem stands now as a shorthand reminder of the magnitude of my experience; something to return to and find solace within when I feel perhaps overwhelmed and am spinning in my daily life. The poem reminds me of the bigger picture; that we are all being held by the mighty OM.
Earth sounds from space.
‘Petals’ by Paul C Pritchard
You and me
to witness the sky upon our heads
to contribute to the drone
of the Earth spinning through space
to change time and every four years
to add a second …
Petals, soft and fragile, have no need of time
a time to accelerate cell DNA
unfurl and a time to fade …
in the meantime, just being
Just being at one and part of the drone
of the Earth spinning
I am that
that would notice even the subtle variation in pitch,
the subtle variation in tone
if that lone flower should never open
and her petals never came home
~
How does the rotating Earth soundtrack make you feel? Does it stir anything in you? Please share in the comments below.
And have a wonderful day filled with the vibration of OM.

The sound of the Earth is like wind blowing sound, not OM…if you say OM than totally wrong

I prefer to do OM Chanting.
I just fineshed the OM Chanting workshop with OM Meditation and AUM vibration exercise given by Paramahamsa Vishwananda. I love the peace, stillness after, it is amazing.
🙂
How many billions of cars etc are contributing to this sound !!!
Load garbage . Comes across like a psy op
Amidst the sound of rotation of this huge ball, was some rhythm and it perfectly matched my heartbeat.
Thanks. I suppose we hear this sound continuosly all time. Thats the reason we don`t hear it consciously, cause we are used to it. We are this sound. I am.
Uhhh, sound? In space? Don’t understand. The vacuum has unexcited energy states, but nothing we call “physical” that could transmit sound. What is in the recording left me feeling uneasy though. Coarse, jarring, unpleasant.
I was unable to put words to it because it was like hearing for the first time. Our small brain cannot yet understand the sound of time or the universe speaking. All I could think was thank you.
On hearing the sound I got a minuscule taste of the powerful force that is Mother Nature. We also may call it the primordial sound of God (OM) or Universe or “Brahmhand”. Every prayer in Hindu scripture begins with uttering this primordial sound “OM”. It seeks to invoke the Almighty before we put forth our say to Him.
E.g. “Om Namah Bhagavate Vasudevaya” (“Oh Lord, I bow to thee”)
I lové thé Aum sound and this hindouism expérience and others. I had…one of thèm lately, while driving on a road hère in Québec, Canada, to Val-David…to visit one of my children…quite of a sudden in thé mid of trees surrounding thé road , I felt myself Making part of thèm …of this extraordinay nature that surrounds us. I am Thankful to conscience to permit me to live this expérience. That’s One of thèm…so thankful to life.
Just received a comment to my message Saying I had already written that…quite strange, as I dont remember ever having commented hère. Who knows…in my âge…76 years old, perhaps I havé some memory lapsus…who knows…but fêel well and this must be normal at my âgé, if not, dont worry, let’s be happy.

I think these are electromagnetic vibrations.
I felt an activation in my third eye and heart chakra.
us lot are far too noisy
Earth sound… Wow! Eerie, heavy, clogged, in need of lightening, nature, animals… Would have been interesting to hear it’s sound a century ago, & previous.
I feel expanded. Joyous and grateful. Like I am the Youniverse I hear the sound of the Earth constantly in my left ear like a hum… Aum.
The deep sound reverberating inside this recording went right through into my spine, and felt both utterly thrilling, and reassuring … it seemed an ancient familiar memory of part of myself.
Jets, automobile traffic , oceans, wind and industrial operations…all combined…
Sounds like a pod of whales communicating with each other!
Sound in a vacuum?? Please say what sound was recorded. Thank you.
That sound of earth was pretty raw and intense. Thanks for sharing. Just hearing it shook me up and then I wonder what would it have an impact if I feel it in reality. I have been experimenting to feel the real feel of the vibration. The mantra “Aum” or “Om” pronounced as “AaaaaaaaUuuuuuuuMmmmmmm” that starts with slow and deep intake of breadth and ends with slow release of it through your nose. The “Aaaaaa…” represents the wakefulness of our existence, the “Uuuuuu…” represents the sleep state of our existence and the “Mmmmm…” the end part of vibration represents the state of our consciousness which means the realization, the nirvana, the being of one with existence, the enlightenment. All it needs is practice and practice until you reach the state of enlightenment. Best wishes.
